Dota 6.68 New Gold System - Aggression! 6.68 Preview #1


IceFrog has just made a new post about the DotA 6.68 preview today. On that chance, he introduces a new gold system for the upcoming map. In the current version, we will lose a certain amount of gold if our hero dies. This thing forces us to act carefully and think twice before trying to kill a hero with the risk of our own death and the cost of our gold. To overcome this problem, IceFrog has invented a new gold system.

The new gold system divides the gold into two parts:

Reliable Gold - Any bounty you get from hero kills or from the extra "aoe kill gold" bonus (feature from few patches ago) is added to your Reliable Gold pool.

Unreliable Gold - It is everything else (creep kills, neutrals, etc).

With the new system, we only lose the money from the Unreliable Gold pool when our hero dies. And when we're buying something, our Unreliable Gold will be used before our Reliable Gold. This new mechanism hopefully will encourage us to get the gold from hero kills rather than from creeps.

As the picture above shows, you can see that the Reliable Gold is placed on the scoreboard title (410 gold) while the total gold still remains at the old place (910 gold). From that info, you can count that the Unreliable Gold amount is 500.

Wow! This new concept is epic and I'm amazed how IceFrog can come up with such a thing. Of course, this experimental idea may be adjusted and tweaked over time depending on feedback and results after it is released. What do you think guys? Do you like this new concept? Share your thoughts here! :)

  6. it basically encourage more and more ganking as gold from ganking wouldn't be lost if you're dead.
    say you managed to get 2000g from ganking and none from farming, you will retain 2000g if someone kills you. not to say its game-breaker, but it does have some impact in the game.

  7. The Idea is some what disheartening to the noobs. I play Lan with a few friends and when we go online it's normally me carring us all, they don't normally get but 1 kill ever 5-6 deaths This new system would put a big damper on the people who only get the assist not the kill.

  11. think its a good idea... it will speed up the game. here at our place DoTA betting is big but sometimes it takes an hour to finish the game with this new gold system it will promote more hero kills. hope it works out fine...

  15. I like this idea as a way of encouraging new players. I mean, for them, It must be very frustrating to lose all the money they have gotten after a while of playing. Besides, as It's already been said, this will make the game quicker.
    Still, for those who say this is a bad idea, I think we should give it a try before giving our opinion :)

  28. I dont understand how this would make support heroes ( people who mostly get assist) life harder. It is all the same, because without the new system, you would loose gold. With the new system, there is a chance that people will not loose gold( if they dont have any unreliable gold)

I think the game will become imbalanced for lower skill levels in favor of the gank, while in higher tiers where farming/turtle strats are the norm it will have a tendency to strengthen the ganking teams slightly. Overall the game hasn't changed greatly either way, it will just get heroes like bloodseeker running around a bit more instead of ricing their radiance.

  44. u get 40 gold for assist, thats the aoe gold that icefrog mentions idiots. Learn the mechanics of the game before you whine and complain.

    This system is meant to make DotA more entertaining from a spectator view, and it is a good system. It also encourages team play, instead of all those noobs who farm 24/7 n dont help the team jack shit.

    Most good players buy items at base before they die and loose it anyway, so this wont be a massive change, it'll just impliment a more exciting, more rambo environment in DotA which for all fans is a good thing

  52. its simple really, you don't loose hero kill/assist gold when you die, rewarding gankers and team players and punishing ricers, not in a big way but it is a step in the right direction. It doesnt change much since u still lose ur farm gold first, so in the game it wont have much affect. Its nice to have the little fund in backup when youre saving for a big spender item.

    And there really isn't such thing as 'ks' in compedetive DotA, a kill is a kill, it helpss your team and gives the other team headaches. If the system mentiond above a couple coments ago was to take place, then all the good carrys suffer, team finishers dont get anything. And the other way around, PA comes in and crits the whole team killing one and doing 50+ percent damage to the rest, then all of you come in, finish them off and PA gets a rampage? Stick with the way it is now, it makes more sense.

    Thumbs up for the new gold system, hoping to see people running around more and taking bigger risks.

  60. There would be a serious glitch in this. However, this does encourage kill stealing and "suicide" Goblin Techies. The good thing form is that you receive money for "aoe killing".

    The bad thing is that some heroes are actually used for neutrals. So this new "improvement has many glitches and but it can imrpove gameplay.

    There should also be a mode which disables this "imrpovement".

  64. First off, I'd like to say that the flaming that goes on simply because a few players misunderstand DotA or simply do not like DotA is ridiculous. Both of you, it's just a game. Really.

    And I personally believe that the change is lovely. Looking forward to it. And if it wouldn't get played, then is it really a good change? Think about it. Peace.

    What's the glitch mate?

    You get the same amount of gold for killing, its just reliable now, it does noot promote ks, nor does 'ks' even exist in a compedetive game, stop playing pubs because theres always going to be a dickhead that tries to get the killer blow on the hero with the new gold system or without it. AOE gold is a massive advantage, you still wont see the supporters last hit but more teamwork and more synergy.

    Tactics would change with this implimented, assign a carry, give him the kills, its a reward eitherway whoever gets the last hit because of the aoe gold being reliable as well.

    Also icefrog does not want the game to be a neuting/jungling game at all, thats another reason for this system, more ganks, more kills, more enjoyment. Now you get reward for killing instead of neuting, and eitherway, buy your items before you die if u have even half a brain, that's what you are supposed to do before you die anyway

    Please do not put this in a mode, thats going to take away the whole reason behind it, there is absolutley nothing bad about this so suck it up.

    Good work icefrog, this is an improvment in the game, death to noob ricers who stay in neuts till lvl 16, come out and get godlike, no you arent the one to thank, your team id for 4v5 for that long and surviving without your help.

    DotA is meant to be action packed, this mode will help it be played the way it was ment to be from the beginning, just accept it and get out of the fucking jungle
